Cyberoam Technologies Private Limited, the spinoff from Elitecore Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and funded by the Carlyle Group, has made an official statement that it has been acquired by Sophos.

Originating from Ahmedabad, India, Cyberoam has consistently grown faster than the market and gained cost leadership and operational efficiency advantages in the global network security market.

Cyberoam has announced the culmination of its Cyberoam Channel Convention 2012.

Cyberoam has reached out to customers and partner of SonicWall. The UTM vendor, committed to the growth of its market footprint in the UTM space, has offered a lucrative trade-in offer on Sonicwall appliances, following the latter’s takeover by Dell.  Existing Sonicwall customers can take advantage of this offer to upgrade their UTM protection to Cyberoam’s identity-based UTM appliances which render end-to-end user visibility through Layer 8 technology.

Cyberoam, a division of Elitecore Technologies, has started its 6-city seminar on UTM Security for its partners. The seminar was first kicked off in Delhi, but it is yet to roll out in other cities, including Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune. This seminar is based on the theme of “Securing You”.

 

Sunil Sharma, Vice-President – Sales, India & SAARC, Cyberoam, said, “The purpose is to roll out new incentive schemes and showcase its products. This forum provided hands-on experience to customers and demonstrated enterprise-class offering that drives productivity. Moreover, we have plans to cover all the other five cities by the end of March. The key takeaway of this seminar is to ensure that our partners get energized with our plans and at the same time partners can take their business to new heights.”

 

The company will be rolling out its partners incentive programme for the JFM quarter in the seminar, and will demonstrate new products development. Under the scheme, partners can push entry- and high-end products to make good margins. More than 100 partners from Delhi and NCR attended the event.

 

Continuing with their set mission, Cyberoam has also unveiled the 81st NetGenie Experience Zone in the country. “Setting up of demo zones is a part of our marketing investment to promote our products across all IT retail stores, so that we can attract walk-ins for NetGenie home routers,” informs Bishwajit Sutradhar, National Sales Manager – NetGenie, Elitecore Technologies (P) Ltd. These demo centres will act as a separate entity for their revenue in addition to their existing base of 700 master resellers.

Cyberoam has announced a special feature of October 2011 Internet threats trend report, prepared in collaboration with Commtouch. The report has revealed that 70% spam attacks were launched on Yahoo (27%), Facebook (23%) and Gmail (19%). The fact highlights that the user of these mail accounts is prone to more attacks.

Abhilash Sonwane, Sr. Vice-President, Product Management, Cyberoam, said, “Trust is a major factor behind spammers switching tactics to email and social media. Most of us will click on a malware link, if it comes from a close friend on Facebook. The use of these attacks for spam and scams are expected to increase in future. Users must take basic precautions when they access these in public domains as well as observing sound password management.”

Cyberoam recommends account-owners to consider using a password manager that stores all passwords, generates new ones and sync them between their PCs, laptops, smartphones and tablets. It is also wise to uncheck the “remember me” box when you log into your email or Facebook and not to follow links in Facebook that accompany some hysterical or generic text such as “check this out!” or scoop such as “Osama Bin Laden death video”.

Cyberoam has appointed Cyberstar International, Singapore as distributor for its UTM appliance range across key countries in SAARC -Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan. A stocking facility has been prepared in Singapore for the same which will ensure faster delivery of products. With this move, Cyberoam is all set to strengthen its existing relationship with corporate and enterprise customers in the SAARC region, thus poised to capture a bigger market share.
