IBM has appointed Karan Bajwa as Managing Director of IBM India Pvt. Ltd, succeeding Vanitha Narayana who is appointed as Chairman of IBM India Pvt. Ltd. These leadership announcements further demonstrate IBM’s commitment in the region.
Karan joined IBM in 2016 as Executive for Strategy and Transformation in the Asia Pacific region. For the next five years, Bharti Airtel and IBM have signed a new agreement to manage Airtel’s infrastructure and application services in India. This agreement builds on the 10-year-old relationship between the two organizations which has driven the co-creation of industry-leading telco solutions and customer-centric services.
The agreement is based on Airtel’s new IT vision that defines the next generation of services for its ever-growing customer base and to offer best-in-class services to its customers through solutions leveraging cutting-edge technology. According to the latest update, IBM(NYSE) has announced appointment of Vanitha Narayanan as Managing Director of IBM India Pvt. Ltd. She takes over from Shanker Annaswamy who will continue to remain in IBM as the Senior Adviser to the corporation on India Enterprise.
Both Ms Narayanan and Annaswamy will report to Jim Bramante, Senior Vice-President, IBM Growth Markets Unit. The appointments are effective immediately.
Ms Narayanan will be responsible for all of IBM’s Sales, Marketing, Services and Global Delivery Operations in the India/South Asia (ISA) region, including operations in Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. IBM has announced that HMEL, a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Mittal Energy Investment Pte Ltd., Singapore, has adopted a new IBM analytics-based solution to transform how the company manages its financial and operations data to boost business performance.
The new IBM solution integrates information from the various components of the MES, enterprise resource planning (ERP), and control systems within the refinery and delivers a consolidated, single view of the data. The new technology will enable HMEL to analyze key corporate business processes, including planned versus actual investments, production, key performance indicators, among others. The system will generate near real-time information for HMEL business executives to use to make more intelligent decisions around optimizing productivity and margins.

We needed a solution that would provide us with a centralized view of all our assets for operational management purposes.
