Sophos redefines Server Protection with New Solution

Sophos redefines Server Protection with New Solution

Sophos has reportedly released Sophos Server Protection – an easy-to-use and flexible server antivirus solution that defends data without sacrificing performance. It is the latest entry in a Sophos arsenal that provides simple, yet complete security for servers, the network and end-user devices.

Increased migration to virtual servers and the ever-growing threat of attack on critical data are presenting new challenges to IT professionals, as they look to maintain high performance and density of servers, without compromising on security. Sophos Server Protection addresses these challenges by integrating agentless antivirus for vShield and full antivirus clients for Windows, Linux, Mac and UNIX into one centrally managed product.

“Servers need the best protection against malware, but managing that protection while maintaining server performance across a diverse environment has inevitably increased complexity and demands on time. We have delivered on what matters – server performance and security. Sophos Server Protection provides a single, easy-to-use management console to assign policies, view alerts and generate reports across platforms. Even licensing, often the bane of IT professionals, is straightforward: one server, one licence, any platform,” saidJohn Shaw, Vice-President of Product Management, Sophos.

Sophos Server Protection supports a broad range of server and virtualization platforms, including Windows, Linux, UNIX, Mac, Hyper-V, vSphere/ESX/ESXi and XenServer. It provides proven protection against known and unknown threats, supported by real-time communication with SophosLabs……See More

60 Per Cent of Vehicles to be Internet-Enabled by 2025, says IEEE

60 Per Cent of Vehicles to be Internet-Enabled by 2025, says IEEE

Distinguished members of IEEE believe that internet-enabled vehicles will play an instrumental role in improving the future of commuting. It is estimated that, by 2025, 60 per cent of the cars on the road will be internet connected, which will promote advanced safety features, upgraded vehicle software protection and the continued adoption of autonomous vehicles.

Internet-connected vehicles will also play a vital role in improving safety and convenience features. As technology supports the communication between people, we will also begin seeing a shift in how vehicles interact with each other, known as vehicle-to-vehicle communication.

“Through vehicle-to-vehicle communication, cars will be able to travel in closer proximity at faster speeds, as well as automatically reroute to avoid hazardous weather conditions or congested roadways,” said Christoph Stiller, IEEE Member & Professor, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany.

The increased dependence on connected devices and the rise of the internet-enabled vehicle signifies that consumers will increase their trust and reliance on automated systems…….See More

Fortinet partners with VMware to deliver Advanced Security Services

Fortinet partners with VMware to deliver Advanced Security Services

Intending to secure traffic traversing virtual networks at the hypervisor level, Fortinet(NASDAQ:FTNT) has announced a proof of concept. With this approach, the security enforcement point is no longer required to be directly in the flow of traffic on the physical network and allows for injecting security controls before the traffic traverses the virtual network layer.

Specifically, the proof of concept will show secured traffic flow in a VMware virtualized network environment that highlights security policy enforcement of communication across and between physical and logical workloads. This proof of concept will debut at VMworld 2013 in San Francisco, FROM August 25–29 in Fortinet’s booth (#642).

“Historically, security controls were required to be directly in the path of affected communication flow. Our VMware integration allows for a much less intrusive design and enables dynamic policy control. Today’s demonstration enhances our already mature unified threat management VM product line and gives our customers yet another choice regarding how they want to deploy security for cloud and software defined data center architectures. As customers begin to virtualize the cloud network with the new VMware NSX network virtualization platform, we will provide holistic security across virtual and physical infrastructures,” said Elie Bitton, Senior Director, Product Management – Virtualization and Management, Fortinet.

VMware NSX will virtualize the network and provide a platform for logical security and network services……See More
